All about the Crafter
I was in the process of looking for a job when I came across a lady in my town that had her own store.  She made handcrafted natural bath and body products.  I thought it would be nice to work there knowing I like Bath and Body Work products. She agreed and I started working. I learned how to make the soaps first and then moved on to making other bath and body products. I got to where I would make most of the products in the store and I took real pride in making them. After sometime, people who came into the store thought I was the owner.

As I learned more on making the products I realized that all naturally made products is the way to go. In my own researching at our library and the internet, I found that many commercial bath and body product bought today contain additives, animal fats, lanolin, preservatives, synthetic detergents and products containing these ingredients are causing harmful conditions and cancer.

I became efficient in making the products and gained a knowledge of running the business. Customers would enjoy coming into the store because of the friendliness and personal attention I gave each customer. In time, I felt that I could make much more money than working there by having my own business rather than working for someone else. So I left that business and started my own business with my husband, who I met on a Christian Chat Room on AOL. Yes, I met my husband on the Internet, smiling!

Side-stepping for a moment:

To tell a little about me, I was a former pastor's wife. I have enjoyed sewing since I was 13 years old and to list a few of my accomplishments are that I made childrens clothes, costumes for church plays, and later sewed my own wedding and maid of honors dress in my first marriage. I also enjoy singing and have sung on christian radio and television stations in Ohio, the state where I grew up at. Today, am remarried and very blessed to a great and loving christian man.and we have a daughter together. We are very supported and helpful of each others endeavors and in our lives together. My husband writes poetry and wrote one of me and a friend of ours put it to music. Really nice, and every once in awhile he plays the CD just for me to know how much he loves me. Smiling! Over the years, I was there encouraging and cheering my husband on when he participated in our states Senior Olympics where he had won both the 800 and 1500 meters in 2007 and 2008 and in 2010, he placed third in the javelin in his age group with only two months of practicing.and having arthritis. In 2011, my husband won the javelin event at the Delaware Senior Olympics in his age group and placed second in the 200 meters. I too, have taken up throwing the javelin this summer along with my husband. Currently, I am ranked 18th Nationally in my age group.

Back

To begin my business, I had to establish a name for the business, so I named my business after our youngest daughter Katie, who was born in 2004. So the business name is Katies Soaps and the business was born in her name. Our business works hard to bring you bath and body products that are visually appealing and nice smelling scents to lift your spirits. Our products are free of additives, animal fats, detergents, lanolin, and preservatives. The scented Body Dews we make do not contain alcohol, ours are alcohol-free, alcohol is what dries out your skin. Products that contain alcohol you should stay away from. Hand and Body Body Butters, Body Dews, Lotions, Shower Gels and Soaps all represent a unique fragrance experience.

Katies Soaps also provides loaf soaps that are cut to your specifications and soaps made in individual soap molds. We also make Baby and Wedding Shower Favors that are popular unique gifts. These favors are fun to make and to see the delighted faces on customers who purchase them is such a joy.

Aside from the Bath and Body products we make are handcrafted Body Warmers and Cold Packs. These products are becoming a real popular item, especially for follow-up in therapy or just to help in aches and pain.
